Congratulations to the team of Shawn Pranger and Corey Parmalee for winning our 30th Annual Great Pumpkin Open with a score of 70. View the full results linked below.

Thank you to those who volunteered or donated their time, talents, pumpkins, or food to make this event so fun and festive! The weather on this October day was near perfect for putting around the pumpkins — partly cloudy and 66°. Thank you all for a wonderful conclusion to our 2021 event season here at Oceana. We look forward to seeing you next year! Reminder that the course is open until October 31 unless weather permits longer.

2021 Member-Guest *SKINS GAME*

In our improvised Member-Guest Scramble we had three different teams earn a skin! Congrats to the winning teams of Mussell/Elzinga (Hole #5 – 3), Kirk/Foster (Hole #8 – 2), and Raeth/DeCair (Hole #16 – 3) who will be taking home cold-hard cash for their efforts! The wind provided a challenge today as no team was able to birdie holes #1 or #11 into the gusts. View the full results linked below.

We were disappointed to have to cancel the 2021 Member-Guest Stableford/Shoot-Out Tournament, but this alternative Two-Person Scramble for skins was a success thanks to those who were signed-up! We were happy to be able to host it!

RULES

In Match Play, the game is played by holes. A hole is won by the player which holes their ball in the fewest amount of strokes. The reckoning of holes is kept by the terms: so many holes up or all square, and so many to play. A player may concede a hole or a match at any time prior to the conclusion of the hole or the match. Concession of a stroke, hole, or match may not be declined or withdrawn. This is a bracket-style, single elimination tournament. In each round, please arrange to play your matches on or before the date stated. Any matches not completed in the time frame posted will result in a double forfeit. First round of matches will begin next week with the finals on SUNDAY, AUGUST 8 starting at 9 AM. The Championship Flight will be played from the Blue Tee Markers with no handicap involved. The Handicap Flight will play from the Blue Tee Markers with handicaps playing off the lower of the two handicaps. The Senior Flight (60-70 years) will play from the White Tee Markers playing off the lower of the two handicaps. And the Super Senior Flight (71+ years) and Ladies Flight will play from the Gold Tee Markers with handicaps playing off the lower of the two handicaps. The Handicap, Senior, Super Senior, and Ladies Divisions will be using 75% of established handicaps, as will be noted on the match scorecards.

2021 Joe Foster Open—FINAL RESULTS

The 48th annual Oceana Best Ball “Joe Foster” Open had a little bit of everything… and some of the same. Heat, humidity, brief rain, wind, and a 170 yard hole out on the #2 handicap hole for a skin on Saturday. Sunday brought about some of the “same” with Chris Griffin and Mike DeRuiter claiming the Championship for the second year in a row and third time in the last four years (2018, 2020, 2021). Shooting 66 and 63 for a 129, they bested the field by six shots. After the round, Griffin said how he was ready to take some time off for a bit after struggling his first eight holes on Sunday just before he birdied his ninth hole and proceeded to end up making six more birdies and an eagle to help his partner Mike DeRuiter to the win.
