HANDICAPPING REQUIREMENT! Post your 2024 scores in the GHIN Mobile App. Golfers maintaining a GAM handicap should be posting ALL rounds played honestly and accurately. RULES

Every year we welcome all of our Certificate Holders, Playing Members, and Employees to challenge their golf skills through friendly competition in our Club Championship Tournament! Members can enter two divisions only if one is the open championship.

In Match Play, the game is played by holes. A hole is won by the player which holes their ball in the fewest amount of strokes (net strokes where applicable). The reckoning of holes is kept by the terms: so many holes up or all square, and so many to play. ***Pick-up official scorecards in the pro shop prior to your match, and turn back in completed scorecards after each match. RECORD EACH PLAYERS' SCORE FOR EACH HOLE PLAYED WITH A NUMBER; IF INTERESTED IN MARKING THE RECKONING OF HOLES, YOU MUST USE A SEPARATE LINE.*** A player may concede a hole or a match at any time prior to the conclusion of the hole or the match. Concession of a stroke, hole, or match may not be declined or withdrawn. This is a bracket-style, single elimination tournament.

Time frames and match pairings for each round will be posted in the clubhouse, website, and emailed. In each round, players must arrange to play their matches on or before the date stated. Any matches not completed in the time frame posted will result in a double forfeit. The finals will be held Sunday, August 11, 2024 starting at 9:00 AM.

  • The Championship Division will play from the Black Tee Markers with no handicap involved.
  • The Handicap Division will play from the Blue Tee Markers with handicaps playing off the lower of the two handicaps — using 75% of established handicaps.
  • The Senior Division (60-70 years) will play from the White Tee Markers — using 75% of established handicaps.
  • The Super Senior Division (71+ years) will play from the Gold Tee Markers — using 75% of established handicaps.
  • The Ladies Division will play from the Gold Tee Markers, max score on any hole is 12. ***Since so many players do not have any type of established/posted handicap, the initial pairings will be done by random draw with handicaps calculated after each 18-hole match. Results may not be known immediately following match, but will be posted ASAP after calculations. After two completed matches, all handicaps will be established in the clubhouse and used for the semi-final and final matches (using 75% of established handicaps).***
  • The Handicap, Senior, Super Senior, and Ladies Divisions handicaps will be noted on the match scorecards.

The Divisions playing with handicaps require an ESTABLISHED handicap; we recommend at least three 18-hole rounds of this current year — the more scores you post, the more representative your index. To maintain a current index, you should continue to post ALL adjusted gross scores for rounds played under authorized formats and by the Rules of Golf. IF YOU ARE NOT CURRENTLY ON THE ACTIVE GAM GHIN HANDICAP LIST, ONE WILL BE ESTABLISHED FOR YOU FOR $41 (using your club credit if applicable, or charged to your club account). By signing-up in to play these Divisions, you are accepting these terms. An email will be sent from GHIN letting players know the login info for their account profile; this will allow you to post scores from any course from your phone or computer, and keep up with your handicap all season long!

2024 Shelby Rotary Club 4-Person Scramble — FINAL RESULTS

Congratulations to the team of Fred Sanford, Stan Sanford, Erik Sanford, and Dave Wojcicki for earning the title of 2024 Shelby Rotary Club 4-Person Scramble Champions by shooting a two-day total of 113 (56 and 57), a combined 33 under par.

Placing 1st in a 4-way tiebreaker in the First Flight is Dick Towne, Mike Garcia, Jim LaPorte, and Max Highland with a 126; and 1st in the Second Flight is Jason Freiheit, Riley Lohman, Bracken Netcott, and Chris Jensen with a 130.

The 39th Annual Shelby Rotary Club 4-Person Scramble event was played over the warm, sunny weekend of May 4 and 5, and the golf course was in a condition to welcome the 244 participants like we have not seen in several years.

Jumping out in front after the first day was a team not unfamiliar with being in that position; Fred, Stan, Erik Sanford and Dave Wojcicki fired a 17 under par 56 which included three eagles on their round. That gave them a two shot lead in the hotly contested 12 team “Championship Flight.” Speaking of hotly contested, the “First Flight” with 20 teams had nine teams tied at the top with 64, and not to be outdone the “Second Flight” had 29 teams and nine of them tied at the top with 67. The Champions lead all the way as they fired a 16 under par 57 on day two, again with making three eagles on the same holes as day one. There was a total of 41 eagles made over the two-day tournament.

Oceana Golf Club is proud and honored to host this event every year the first weekend in May, as it marks the start of the season in a lot of ways! It was a bonus this season with the golf course being in midseason condition
