The 2008 Stroke Play Championship held at Oceana Golf Club in Shelby July 19 th and 20 th The Open Division saw 5 time champion Mike Schramm (71) trailing after day one by 3 shots to Jay Allen of Ravenna (68). After the first nine on Sunday the two shot 38 for Schramm to stay 3 shots back. Allen went bogey, double bogey on numbers 10 and 11 respectively as Schramm made pars. Allen birdies the par 5 13 th to regain the lead by one only to see Schramm make three straight birdies on 14, 15 and 16 to surge two shots ahead and maintain to win by 2. This was Schramms' 6th title in 7 years of this event.
In the Handicap Net Division Nate Baker won by shooting a 69 – 65 = 134 to win by 2 shots over round one leader Ross Finlan. |
