The 4th annual O.C. Cup was held July 12 th and 13 th @ Colonial on Saturday and Oceana Golf Club on Sunday. Twelve players from each golf club squared off in a Ryder Cup Format to lay claim to the O.C. Cup. Saturday there were 12 points possible with six Best Ball Matches followed by six Alternate Shot Matches. After day one Oceana team charged out to an 8½ to 3½ point lead. Closest to the pin winner was Bill Shriver and two skins out belonged to VanderZanden #7 and Kevin Beckman #9. Sunday started out with six Two Man Scramble Matches with Oceana increasing the lead slightly with a 3 ½ to 2 ½ result. With twelve singles matches headed to the back nine The Colonial needed to make an early charge to swing the momentum to their side, and after the first four matches it was 2 points each. Oceana needed 3 ½ points to retain the cup, but taking no chances they refused to lose another match to finish the two day event with a final score 22 to 8 to retain the cup for another year. Second day closest to pin was Tom Kirk and two more skins out with Kevin Beckman making the only birdie on #14 and Steve Fillips making a birdie on #11 at Oceana.
